Introduction ::
Rafi Ahmed Kidwai National Postal Academy, till recently called as Postal Staff College India (PSCI) is the apex training institution of India Post. It was set up in the year 1977. Initially the College functioned from Sanchar Bhavan and later from Dak Bhavan in Delhi. It was shifted to its present location in Ghaziabad in the year 1990.
The institute trains officers who get recruited to the Indian Postal Service through the civil services examination. Apart from this, this institute conducts training programmes for all senior officers of India Post. As this institute is a Central Training Institute of Government of India, it conducts training programmes of common interests to officers of various Central Government Departments. The institute also conducts international courses every year on various Postal Management topics.

At present the department of posts has six full-time training facilities across the country to meet the requirement of a workforce of more than five lakh.
1. Postal Training Centre Vadodara
The PTC, Vadodara was established with effect from 01.07.1962 to cater the training needs of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh Postal Circles and now Chhattisgarh Circle, being centrally located and connected by rail/road/air. It imparts training to Group B & C Cadres for induction/in-service refreshers courses.

2. Postal Training Centre Mysuru
Postal Training Centre Mysore is a premier Training Centre of Department of Posts that runs high quality training programs for postal personnel. In keeping with the mandate of the department of Posts to introduce large scale computerization and automation in postal Operations , PTC has equipped itself with the state of art computer training facilities and trains a large number of personnel in IT related activities. The Postal Training Centre at Mysore is housed in a palace, which formerly belonged to Royal Family of Mysore.

3. PTC Guwahati
PTC, Guwahati was opened on 27/10/2003 by Smt Padma Balasubhramanim, Secretary , Department of Posts, India. The centre is imparting various training to the postal employees of Assam and NE circle. At present it is housed in a three storied rented building owned by Indian Red cross Society, Guwahati. PTC is situated near river bank of Brahmaputra.

4. PTC Madurai
This training centre was formed on 25-08-1981. It is situated at a place called Perungudi, 9 KM south of the Madurai City. The original proposal was to have P & T staff quarters here. Later it was planned by the Postmaster-General, Madras, to start a Postal Training Centre in this place utilizing the 72 quarters.

5. PTC Darbhanga
Postal Training Centre, Darbhanga started functioning in the Bela Palace from 12th July 1966.The palace was constructed after the disastrous earthquake of 1934 by Maharajadhiraj Kameshwar Singh for his younger brother Raja Bahadur Visheshwar Singh.

6. PTC Saharanpur
This Postal training center was established on 2nd April 1951 with the main objective of imparting training to postal clerks, RMS sorters and telegraphists.
