Dearness Relief for Central Government Pensioners Increased to 53%
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions has raised Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Government pensioners from 50% to 53%, effective July 1, 2024, as per the Office Memorandum dated October 30, 2024. This increase aims to help pensioners manage inflation and day-to-day expenses.
Key Highlights:
- New Rate: DR increased to 53% of basic pension/family pension.
- Effective Date: July 1, 2024.
- Arrears Payment: Disbursement will begin after October 2024 pensions are paid.
Eligible Pensioners:
- Civilian and Defence Central Government pensioners and family pensioners
- Railway, All India Service, and Provisional pension recipients
- Displaced pensioners from Burma and Pakistan
Banks and Accountant General offices are responsible for timely disbursement, and any fractional rupee amounts will be rounded up. Separate orders for retired judges will be issued by the Ministry of Justice.
This adjustment brings much-needed financial relief for pensioners facing rising living costs.
